The Logan Lake FireSmart success story

On August 13, 2021 Logan Lake was under an evacuation order as the town was threatened by the Tremont Creek wildfire. The collective and individual efforts made by Logan Lake to FireSmart their community helped save the town. Over the years, Logan Lake (FireSmart’s first Recognized Neighbourhood), has made considerable efforts to mitigate the threat of wildfire and FireSmart their town by creating non-combustible zones around homes, clearing coniferous trees that act as a ladder to move fire as well as other landscape level fuel-treatment work. Watch as fire chief Doug Wilson welcomes Premier, John Horgan, to acknowledge the hard work the town undertook and highlight how they are an example for similar communities throughout the province.
